Q&A with Richie Jeffcoat
What did you learn on this project?
The project to upgrade Ohio Mutual’s policy admin system to the newer JAVA platform provided an opportunity for our team to learn the latest features and functions of the system. It was critical that the company’s business workflows, interfaces and third-party systems worked together seamlessly. There were multiple touchpoints which required lots of coordination, testing and communication. Communication was the key to the success of the project, along with working together to overcome challenges. The things we learned as a team will be taken forward to our next project.
What do you like about working at DXC?
I have enjoyed working at DXC because the people I work with are very knowledgeable, hardworking, customer-oriented and share the goal of doing what is right for our customers. In my 34-year career, I have had the opportunity to do many challenging things and to expand my career and responsibilities, and have had the pleasure to work with very diverse team members. The flexibility to work from home the last several years was key for me during the pandemic.
What do you do in your spare time?
I spend a great deal of time with family—going for walks and runs, working out, attending church events, volunteering with the food pantry serving those in need, and helping the elderly with tasks around their homes. In addition, I officiate college basketball, which has been great to help keep me in shape, and it provides the opportunity to give back to the sport I have loved and enjoyed. Basketball provided me with a full scholarship and opened the doors to meet many fascinating people.
